How AI voice integrates with Dentitek, Maxident and Open Dental
A tour of the leading dental PMS used across Canada — Dentitek, Maxident, Open Dental, ClearDent, Dentrix Canada — and how a voice agent books appointments in real time.
The challenge: one calendar as source of truth
No receptionist tolerates double-booking. The same rule applies to an AI voice agent. The golden rule: read and write the same calendar as your team, never a side copy.
Dentitek
Dentitek is one of the most widely used PMS systems in Canadian dental practices. The integration runs via a small local gateway (a Windows service) that exposes a private API. The AI agent reads availabilities per operator and procedure type, then creates the appointment with the right procedure code.
Maxident
Maxident exposes a cloud connector for "Maxident Cloud" customers, and an on-premise middleware for local installs. Either way, the agent can filter by "new patient", "exam", "emergency" and "hygiene" while respecting default durations set in Maxident.
Open Dental
Open Dental offers an official HTTP API (developer.opendental.com). It is the cleanest integration: API-key auth, reading the Operatory, and creating an Appointment directly. Great for Ontario and Alberta clinics.
ClearDent and Dentrix
For ClearDent (BC, Alberta) and Dentrix Canada, we use a local agent that syncs the calendar every 30 seconds. The appointment is confirmed verbally by the agent then posted into the PMS. The receptionist gets a notification.
What is not a 30-minute drop-in
Deep integration takes a 45-minute call with your team to map operators, procedure durations, and emergency rules. It is included in all our plans.
